A hardware trader’s wife committed suicide in Agra by shooting herself with a country-made pistol on Friday.
In her suicide note written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi which is currently viral on social media, the woman has alleged harassment by her in-laws for being the reason for her suicide.
A resident of the Vidya Puram colony in Foundry Nagar area of Agra, Mona (30), the wife of Dheeraj Dwivedi, shot herself on Friday morning after leaving a suicide note addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the police sources, apart from Dheeraj, his three brothers Neeraj, Pankaj, and Ambuj also live in the same house, and on Friday morning, they had all gone to work, when Mona shot herself inside her room. A countrymade pistol was recovered from the room and the police are investigating the reasons for her suicide.
Inspector-in-charge Etmad-ud-Daulah police station Devendra Shankar Pandey said that the couple had got married 14 years back and of late, they had been having some arguments over the non-payment of a loan that Dheeraj had taken for Mona’s brother Sonu. Sonu was not paying the EMI of the loan and this was affecting Dheeraj’s credit rating with CIBIL. When Dheeraj’s younger brother Ambuj came to know about this, he made some comments on Mona, and this caused strife in the family.
Pandey said that prima facie, this is a case of suicide, and Mona’s family has not filed any complaint. Even Dheeraj’s family has also claimed that Mona’s room was locked from the inside when she shot herself. He said that there was no suicide note recovered from Mona’s room and the note had been sent by Mona via Whatsapp to her brother. The original suicide note was nowhere to be found and not even in Mona’s phone. The police are still searching for the original suicide note.
