Maharashtra and Gujarat are making headlines these days with their radical approach towards immunizing every citizen against Covid-19. While Maharashtra has become the only state in the country that has crossed the milestone of 2.77 crore doses of covid 19 vaccines, Gujarat has launched a statewide vaccination mega campaign to vaccinate everyone in the state as soon as possible.
More than 2 crores 22 lakh beneficiaries in the state of Maharashtra have been inoculated with the first dose of covid 19 vaccine. Vaccination of citizens between the age group of 30 to 44 in Maharashtra government hospitals resumed from Saturday. Eligible citizens are able to pre-register on the Cowin app or can register at the vaccination center itself. The state’s health department had said that the Union government has given the option to decide preference in vaccination. Accordingly, to avoid crowding, vaccination of citizens between the age group of 30 to 44 resumed from Saturday in government hospitals across the state. In Mumbai also, vaccination drives for the 30 plus age group are being organized while students and divyang’s vaccination is continued as earlier.
Till date, around 1.6 crore citizens above 45-year-old, around 31 lakh citizens between the age group of 18 to 44, 12 lakh 45 thousand health care workers, and more than 20 lakh frontline workers in Maharashtra are inoculated with the first dose of covid19 vaccine in Maharashtra.
In Gujarat, a statewide vaccination mega campaign will be held today onwards to make everyone aware of vaccination and to vaccinate everyone. The vaccination festival will be organized today to make covid vaccination more widespread. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also scheduled to visit three Covid-19 vaccination centers, including one in Ahmedabad today.
The vaccination festival will be celebrated today in the presence of ministers, leaders, dignitaries at more than 1000 vaccination centers in 33 districts and 8 Municipal Corporation areas. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will participate in the vaccination festival at the Primary Health Center in Gandhinagar. Mr. Rupani said the vaccine will be provided free of cost to citizens of all age groups in the state. From today onwards, the youth would not have to register in advance for vaccination. They will be able to get walk-in vaccines. The state government has also increased the number of vaccination booths to 5,000 so that the vaccine can be easily made available to every citizen in their neighborhoods.
